Larry Lee

Larry Lee is a man of excellence—on the field and on stage. He spent 16 years in the NFL, 8 as an offensive lineman (Lions, Dolphins, Broncos, Super Bowl XXII) and 8 as VP of the Detroit Lions. A professional bass player for over 50 years, he founded Larry Lee & Back In The Day, featuring legends from The Temptations, Spinners, and more. For 23 years, the band has lit up stages with award-winning R&B, funk, soul, and timeless Motown sound.

James Chaney

A storied musical veteran. He has been around the world several times with groups such as Motown's’ Funk Brothers, Contours, John Lee Hooker, Tyrone Davis, Little Milton, and others. A true sax legend.

Beverly Thompson

This powerhouse vocalist hails from Inkster, Michigan, and has carved out a name for herself in Detroit’s vibrant music scene. Known for captivating crowds with her soulful voice and dynamic stage presence, she’s a rising star with the energy and drive of someone half her age. Though a late starter, her passion burns brightly, and she approaches every performance with fearless enthusiasm. A true talent on the rise—she’s a must-see artist who leaves audiences inspired and wanting more.

Eric Boyd

Eric is a quiet assassin on the guitar. Reserved and focused, he’ll hold down his part with precision—until you give him the green light. Then, he unleashes a storm of raw talent and emotion that commands attention. With blazing solos and unexpected riffs, Eric makes the guitar sing, cry, and roar in ways you never thought possible. His mastery, creativity, and stage presence make him a force to be reckoned with. When Eric plays, you can’t look away.

Oscar Walters

Oscar Walters began his musical journey performing in clubs throughout the Detroit area. After high school, he joined the U.S. Army as a musician, dedicating 20 years of service to his country and his craft. During his military career, Oscar performed across Europe, Korea, and the United States with various military and professional bands. His disciplined musicianship, global experience, and deep passion for music have shaped him into a respected and versatile performer with a rich, inspiring story.

Steve Cooley

Steve Cooley is a seasoned trumpeter whose talent has taken him around the world. With a career spanning decades, he has performed with renowned groups such as The Dramatics and many others, leaving his musical mark on stages across the globe. Known for his smooth tone, precise technique, and dynamic stage presence, Steve brings energy and soul to every performance. His passion for music and deep experience make him a standout artist and a powerful force in any live show.

Paris Reese

A drummers drummers. Mooch has graced stages all around the world with several national acts too numerous to mention. He has style and flair all while keeping a solid timekeeping pocket. When not performing he spends his time with young and upcoming drummers.

DuWayne Smith

DuWayne is a seasoned touring veteran whose keyboard magic has supported artists like Cherrelle, R.J.’s Latest Arrival, Michael Henderson, and more. With years of experience, he has mastered the art of making the keys come alive. A pure player devoted to his craft, DuWayne brings depth and texture to every performance. During a Back In The Day show, his keyboard becomes an orchestra—piano, clavinet, bells, whistles, strings, and beyond—all seamlessly woven together with skill, soul, and musical finesse.

Jean Johnson

A professional vocalist with over 30 years in the music industry, she brings experience, versatility, and passion to every performance. With a wide octave range, she excels in both lead and background vocals, adding richness and depth to any ensemble. Originally from the Seattle area and later relocating to Cleveland, her journey has been shaped by diverse musical influences. Whether on stage or in the studio, her voice is powerful, expressive, and unforgettable—a true asset to any musical project.

John Jackson

A vocal veteran with a world of experience, he has toured globally as a member of Ollie Woodson’s Temptations, delivering powerful performances night after night. His exceptional vocal ability allows him to masterfully cover a wide range of genres—from classic soul and R&B to pop, jazz, and more. With smooth tones, dynamic control, and commanding stage presence, he connects with audiences everywhere.
